Kit Harington hints that Game of Thrones season 8 reshoots could still happen
Not everything for Game of Thrones season 8 could be set in stone just yet, as Kit Harington revealed over the weekend that more filming could happen.
With plenty of time before Game of Thrones season 8 premieres, it seems as though production might take that time to make sure everything is as perfect as it can possibly be. Well, it might do that.
The show’s not expected to premiere until May of next year at the very latest (with an April premiere date also looking likely, for reasons our sister site Winter is Coming have pointed out). With movies like Avengers 4 still shooting, doing the same for the final season of Game of Thrones seems like a no-brainer. Although we don’t have any confirmation of reshoots yet, Entertainment Weekly did manage to call up the possibility by interviewing Kit Harington at the Toronto International Film Festival.
It turns out that Harington has been “kept just like this” just in case, where “just like this” means “just as you probably picture him when you think about him.” To go back to the Avengers comparison, we don’t think that any additional filming would change the story, as has been intimated of what’s going on in the world of Marvel.
EW speculates that the most that might be needed would be for Harington to “accommodate a visual effect or something of a similar nature,” but it could be a little bigger than that. After all, the rumors have it that Jon Snow will be involved in a big, dramatic scene with other actors, and for that scene to come off as desired, there might yet be some tweaking needed. (We can’t say more here, for fear of spoiling those who want to be spoiled.) With Harington missing out on an Emmy nomination this year, it wouldn’t surprise if the goal (at least on HBO’s end) is to make sure that he has better odds for next year’s awards.
That all being said, we’ll be sure to keep you posted if Harington does go back to any suspicious Game of Thrones-related locations.
