San Diego Comic-Con Day 3: Johnny Depp surprise, an Aquaman trailer and more highlights

What happened during San Diego Comic-Con day 3? Well, lots of trailers dropped and a surprise Johnny Depp appeared to many fans dismay.

The biggest news out of San Diego Comic-Con today was the upset from fans when Warner Brothers brought Johnny Depp on stage for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. While his casting is still a hot topic for fans of the series, where the tension came was the line-up.

Depp, who had a very public divorce from Amber Heard, currently has a restraining order against him by the Aquaman actress. Heard, who plays Mera in the movie, was scheduled to have her panel for Aquaman right after. So obviously, fans on Twitter weren’t exactly pleased.

The second big hit for the day was the release of both the trailers for Aquaman and Shazam. Two movies that are strikingly different from Man of Steel and Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, they seem both lighter in tone and more of the comic book feel we know and love.

Especially with Aquaman and bringing the world of Atlantis to life. He has sharks that they use as horses. How cool is that?

When Billy Batson says “Shazam” and ends up a superhero, he and his foster brother have to figure out the range of his superpowers. It is cheesy, fun, and just looks like a good time at a DC movie which hasn’t really happened before.

While Johnny Depp’s appearance may have been unwanted, he was there to release a new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The Hall H panels were filled with our favorite stars from many Warner Brothers productions and it was a great day to be at San Diego Comic-Con!
