Shuri from Black Panther is getting her own comic book series
Fan-favorite Shuri from Black Panther is getting her own standalone comic book series, and fans are beyond excited.
While the fate of Shuri in the MCU is still unclear, everyone’s favorite Wakandan genius is going strong in the Marvel comics. In an exclusive release, Bustle announced that Shuri is going to be getting a comic book series of her own.
The popularity of the character in the MCU and her likable portrayal by Letitia Wright makes this decision an exciting one for many fans. The series will begin this October.
Here’s the official Marvel synopsis about the series:
"Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one — and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda’s welfare and her own."
Art for the series will be created by Leonardo Romero, an Eisner-nominated artist. Nnedi Okorafor, an award-winning Nigerian-American writer, will write for the series and was eager to share her excitement about this project on Twitter.
Okorafor wrote for Marvel comics previously, contributing to the series Black Panther: Long Live The King. She described Shuri as being “a character in the Marvel Universe who really sings to me.”
Fans of Shuri from the films shared the excitement of getting to see more of Shuri in comic book form on social media.
As we wait for Avengers 4, and hope to learn the fate of Shuri and our other favorite characters, this standalone comic book series will be a great way to pass the time.
