On July 11, Cardi B welcomed her first child with husband Offset. And along with the birth announcement, the rapper also revealed her rather unique name.

It’s official, Cardi B is a mother. On Tuesday, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper gave birth to her first child with husband Offset, and as part of the announcement, the couple even revealed the name of their daughter: Kulture Kiari Cephus.

With parents who already have names that stand out in a crowd, it makes sense that Cardi B’s newborn would have her own unique name. As E! News reports, Kulture’s name is not exactly surprising either. Not only did Cardi B reveal that Offset picked the name of their child during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, but there are plenty of other factors that went into the name.

When it comes to Kulture’s first name, this is where most people seemed to have questions. However, Kulture seems to be a reference to the recent albums released by Migos, Culture and Culture II.

Apparently, in a previous interview, Offset explained that the album title was a reference to the culture of hip-hop and how it’s time to claim it. And considering how proud of the work Offset is (and of course his children), it makes sense that the name Kulture would resonate with him.

For Kulture’s middle name, Kiari, this explanation is actually quite simple and touching. The middle name is in honor of Cardi B’s father, whose first name is Kiari.

And of course the last name, Cephus, is Cardi B’s legal last name. Therefore, Kulture has a name that is equal parts mom and dad.

On Twitter, fans of both Cardi B and Offset reacted to the baby’s name, with some even pointing to the “Bodak Yellow” rapper’s own legal name as being a clue that the baby would have a special name. Other’s defended the new parents and their unique choice because they are celebrities, after all.

Overall, the reaction on social media was mostly happy for the new mom as she welcomed her first child into the world. And even if there are those people who are critical of baby Kulture’s name, we all know Cardi B could care less. Not only does she have multiple number one hits this summer, but she has a baby to love and spoil now.
