Donald Glover could be making his way to Black Panther 2, while Michael B. Jordan might return. It’d certainly be an interesting move given their MCU backgrounds.
Would we love to see young Lando Calrissian and Erik Killmonger in the same Marvel movie? Oh yeah!
Lando most likely wouldn’t show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sadly, but it’s possible that Solo’s Donald Glover could be appearing in the next Black Panther movie. And he might be joining Michael B. Jordan, reprising his role as Killmonger.
Word from Metro.co.uk has it that Donald Glover is being eyed for a role in Black Panther 2. Meanwhile, they say director Ryan Coogler is debating bringing back Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger. Both bits of news are surprising, given both Glover’s and Jordan’s history in the MCU.
The source from Metro mentions that Coogler is creating “a number of new characters that movie-goers will be introduced to when it premieres.” Supposedly, Donald Glover would take on one of those new characters. We’d be excited and all, but Donald Glover’s already appeared in the MCU.
Last year in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Glover appeared as a character who had a connection to the arms crime Spider-Man was investigating. It was a short appearance, but it wasn’t really a huge role. It was nice, though, to see Glover in a Marvel movie.
So Donald Glover potentially playing a brand new character in a different movie could flip the script for the MCU. There have been times where MCU actors have played other Marvel movie roles –looking at you, Michael B. Jordan, Chris Evans and Josh Brolin — but rarely has an actor played two different notable roles within the MCU. (CBR.com did a good job of compiling MCU actors’ double-ups. But again, each pair of roles aren’t that major.)
Now, if the Black Panther 2 were to bring Michael B. Jordan back as Killmonger, this wouldn’t be a first. We’ve discussed before that the MCU loves to bring characters back from the dead, so it could be possible in the sequel. There’s tons of high-tech medical technology in Wakanda, so Killmonger could still be on the verge of saving.
Otherwise, the Metro source says that if Killmonger doesn’t return, Glover could likely be the villain for the sequel. We’re fine with either possibility. The more actors, the merrier!
