After hearing that a Ms. Marvel movie will be in the works, Mindy Kaling and Riz Ahmed have expressed interested in working on the movie.

Marvel really doesn’t have to do a lot of hard work to get a cast of writers and actors on board for its movies. And now, that’s especially the case for its planned Ms. Marvel movie that could be hitting the screens soon.

Earlier this week, word got out that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said a Ms. Marvel movie is certainly on the studio’s itinerary. Ms. Marvel would be the first MCU movie to feature a Muslim superhero with its main character, Kamala Khan, who becomes Ms. Marvel.

Without missing a beat, Riz Ahmed (who played Bodhi Rook in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) took to Twitter to ask if Mindy Kaling and Kumail Nanjiani would be down to join the film. As of now, Ahmed hasn’t been confirmed to be signed on for the movie. But it doesn’t hurt to show your interest early on.

After tweeting at Marvel Studios if they’re all good to let Kaling and Nanjiani whip up a screenplay, Kaling responded back that’d she’d totally sign on to Marvel the project — she even revealed that she’s an avid fan of the comics.

The Twitter conversation then went on, looping in G. Willow Wilson and Sana Amanat, who’ve both worked on the Ms. Marvel comic. Nanianji hasn’t yet thrown his own two cents into the matter yet, but we hope he does soon!

Movie magic is certainly happening right now. And we can sense that something great might come out of this Twitter convo. After the success of Black Panther, it’s clear to see that audiences are craving movies with diverse actors (and even crews).

This kind of movie would be storytelling from a perspective that’s been left out of the spotlight for too long. And Ms. Marvel could certainly continue to usher in a wave of amazing, diverse films. Plus, having Mindy Kaling, Riz Ahmed and Kumail Nanjiani on it would make it even more amazing.

We’re sure Kevin Feige is lurking in the background and watching this all go down. We’ve just got our fingers crossed that he and the other Marvel Studios executives will work their magic to make this happen.
