Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD: Why is Daisy still leading the team?

In Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Daisy spent episodes finding Coulson so he could lead. Now that he’s back, she’s still giving orders. What gives?

Dear Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD,

It’s a bit of a nitpicky thing, really, but why is Daisy still in charge?

Wait, let me backtrack for a second. Daisy spent multiple episodes searching for Coulson after he turned himself over to Hale. She took Robin and her mother out of hiding just to find him. She took May on a wild goose chase when they’re still at the top of the most wanted list.

During all of these things, when anyone came to her, she brushed them off, saying she’s not the one in charge. Essentially, she’s not ready to lead (She also said that multiple times, too.)

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “A Life Earned” – Coulson and the team discover what their captors’ true intentions are; and in space, escape is not an option, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” FRIDAY, DEC. 15 (9:01-10:01 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Jennifer Clasen)

Daisy successfully rescued Coulson and brought him back to bas… and then continued to take charge in this week’s episode. And she gave orders like a pro. She sounded like a leader. She shot down Coulson’s ideas.

And she had May backing her up as well.

It all just felt a little… off. It’s not that Daisy leading feels strange — it’s a step in the right direction since her comic book equivalent does lead SHIELD. It’s what the Agents of SHIELD series has been leading up to, pretty much since the beginning. It just seems like a bad character move juxtaposed against several episodes of Daisy stating she’s not ready to lead.

Did May give her a “come to Jesus” talk in regards to Coulson making reckless choices? Then show us. Jumps in logic rarely ever work. This is not one of those cases.

If Daisy continues to lead, can we at least get a flashback moment where her opinions switched? Or just an off-hand comment by someone commenting on it? And, if we can also ask for it to not be Deke, that would be great.

Next: What could be in store for Avengers: Infinity War’s post-credits scene?

Some explanation would be wonderful. Please and thank you.
