The long-anticipated season 5 trailer for The 100 has arrived, and it offers some insight into the plot of the new season.

It’s been a long wait, but the trailer for season 5 of The 100 has finally arrived. And with every answer provided, another question has been raised.

The preview opens with Clarke (Eliza Taylor) leaving a message for Bellamy (Bob Morley), seemingly during the interim between the Death Wave hitting and her discovery of Madi (Lola Flanery). In a heart wrenching monologue, she tells him that she feels alone but doesn’t want the group to feel sorry about leaving her behind.

Judging by the clips that follow her message, viewers will get to see the events directly after the Death Wave. So even with the time jump indicated at the end of season 4, we’ll be getting flashbacks of Clarke’s time alone on Earth. We’ll also get to see the obstacles Bellamy’s group will face while in space and how they overcome these to survive.

The trailer introduces several new faces, presumably the group on the ship that appears in front of Clarke and Madi at the end of season 4. It looks like they’ll be the antagonists this season, fighting our beloved characters for the last inhabitable valley on Earth. Keeping with The 100 tradition, war is once again inevitable.

During the preview, we also get a glimpse of the struggles that occur in the bunker following the Death Wave. It looks as though we’ll be following Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) on her journey to becoming the true leader of all the Grounder clans. And her journey appears to be anything but easy.

The trailer closes with Clarke’s famous words from the previous seasons: “There are no good guys.” That alone tells us to be prepared for another season of morally grey characters and questionable decisions. Fans of The 100 wouldn’t want or expect anything less.
