Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Come on in (we think)

Game of Thrones season 8 has made some significant progress when it comes to a spoiler-filled project for production, and this is the best look yet.

Warning: Game of Thrones season 8 images are below, which means Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers. There’s no way to make it any plainer, fans.

Sometimes, we here at Culturess like to think we have it mostly figured out when it comes to Game of Thrones season 8 based on spoilers. Sometimes, we end up actually being right. Then there are times like this where we’re honestly not sure if we have it right because the images just aren’t clear — not because the camera is bad or anything, but because it’s something that still hasn’t been finished.

What we’re talking about is the King’s Landing set. While attending an exhibition, Stira Folding Attic Stairs took some of the best photos we’ve ever seen of this set — because they are quite high-quality (and of course r/freefolk found the photos first). There are even people working on the set!

While it’s impossible to concretely state what’s being built here, there does seem to be a distinct area for a gate or entrance — check out that curve of the outer wall. The caption indicates that that’s what Stira thought when the photo was taken, too. There’s even a mention that it “looks like there’s a whole town within the gates.”

It also wouldn’t make sense to just have a full passage and archway there for no reason if there isn’t a way out near that archway.

We’ve seen this before, too, but again, it’s one of the best looks we’ve had at it. It almost looks as if that’s a flagpole or maybe just a lighting setup on top of the tower, but it does also look like that’s a window and not really a door (it’s a bit high, although it could have a balcony to make it a door, we suppose).

Here’s a general sense of the layout and the general scale of the set:

Okay, the cranes are still bigger than anything else in the set, but that’s understandable. Still, judging by the picture, the set is pretty sizable, especially what we’re calling the entrance.

Here’s another perspective, again showing how huge this set already is:

What we do notice is that there really haven’t been any major additions — just filling in what’s been there for a while. It looks like the basic layout is set, pun not intended, and now the detailing work is mostly underway. The presence of the cranes seems to be for putting big pieces on what’s already there.

That means that this set could be used sooner rather than later for shooting Game of Thrones season 8, but that’s certainly not a given. We just hope more fans will find opportunities to snap photos!
