Girls rule the gridiron: NFL PLAY 60 Ambassador is a girl
Who says football is just for guys? This year’s NFL Play 60 Ambassador is a girl, which proves that girls can rule the gridiron.
As the NFL season comes to a close, excitement builds for Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis. Recently announced, the NFL PLAY 60 Ambassador is Masnasa Yerriboyina. As the NFL PLAY 60 Ambassador, she’ll be part of the on-field Super Bowl LII excitement at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Ms. Yerriboyina earned her title by exhibiting her commitment to being active for 60 minutes a day. Additionally, she had some pretty inspiring celebratory dance moves. According to the NFL, Ms. Yerriboyina won the title because of “her dedication to a healthy lifestyle and her passion for helping others to stay active and eat healthy.”
Beyond her own desire to enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle, Ms. Yerriboyina inspires other children to get up and get moving. She participates in various sports, community activities and encourages others to have positive habits. Hopefully, her role as NFL PLAY 60 Ambassador can serve as an inspiring example to other young girls, and young athletes.
SURPRISE! This 13-year-old Manasa just found out that she’s going to the Super Bowl as our GMA NFL Kid Correspondent! “I have NO words!” GET IT GIRL!

The NFL has been exploring women’s roles in the organization. During last year’s Super Bowl in Houston, the NFL hosted a Women’s Summit for teenage girls. The two-day event brought together industry leaders, NFL players and prominent athletes for a candid discussion on how young women can achieve their goals.

Additionally, the NFL has welcomed female assistant coaches to various NFL organizations. These roles may not be high profile, but they do show changes within the industry. Instead of women delegated to the cheerleader role, women can and do hold power positions within the former all boys’ club.
Gone are the days where athletic ability and praise is given to just men in the industry. Women, of all shapes, sizes and colors, are celebrated along with male counterparts. The diversity helps to encourage all children, girls and boys, to dream big. Any goal is attainable with hard work, devotion and commitment. That glass ceiling might be a little higher, but the cracks are growing every year.
While not every athlete is a good role model, sports and an active lifestyle can be a catalyst to compelling life choices. The NFL PLAY 60 model, and especially this year’s ambassador, can be a strong example for kids to want and to do more. Even small changes can have a huge impact.
Super Bowl LII will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The game is set to be played on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. The week leading up to the game is expected to have numerous entertaining events.
