Slim Shady and Queen Bey tag-team to accidentally upstage Taylor Swift with the surprise release of his emotional new single “Walk on Water.”

Shady’s back — with Beyoncé’s help.

Few artists are brave enough to drop a new track the day pop queen Taylor Swift releases her first album in three years. But then again, most artists don’t have a photo of themselves flipping off the camera as their Twitter banner — or Beyoncé singing the chorus of their new single.

With an all-caps tweet (and a nod to Poltergeist), Eminem declared Shady was back with the debut of “Walk on Water.” It is likely the first single of his mysterious, still untitled upcoming album, which ad campaigns suggest will be called Revival.

The track opens with Beyoncé singing heavenly and hymn-like:

"“I walk on water / But I ain’t no Jesus / I walk on water / But only when it freezes.“"

As with anything that involves Queen Bey, Twitter lost its collective mind — mostly at the expensive of Taylor Swift.

In three verses spoken over a delicate piano melody, the Detroit rapper proceeds to pick himself apart from the inside out, revealing the insecurities of a man struggling under the weight and pressure of his own legacy. He says:

"It’s the curse of the standardThat the first of the Mathers disc setAlways in search of the verse that I haven’t spit yetWill this step just be another misstep, to tarnishWhatever the legacy, love or respect I’ve garnered?"

Behind the scenes, “Walk on Water” boasts another impressive collaboration. The song was produced by all-star Grammy-award winning producer Rick Rubin, who has worked with everyone from Jay-Z to Ed Sheeran. Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Skylar Grey, who also wrote Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna, shares a writing credit.

The newly vulnerable and introspective Marshall Mathers sound did come as a surprise to some. Generously, Eminem comforted shocked listeners by closing the track with a reminder that maybe he is still the same Slim Shady after all:

"“Cause I’m just a man / But as long as I got a mic, I’m godlike / So me and you are not alike / B****, I wrote ‘Stan'”"

Revival has no official release date as of yet, but rumors say it will follow his “massive” MTV EMAs performance this weekend.
