Riverdale: 3 suggestions for the identity of the Black Hood … maybe

It’s time to start speculating about who is really the Riverdale killer. We (and the Internet) have some theories and they’re some doozies.

The Riverdale killer, also known as the Black Hood, has claimed three victims already, and almost got to our beloved Fred Andrews. Although Ms. Grundy, Moose and Midge aren’t really all that important in the Riverdale universe, their deaths are enough to send us down a rabbit hole of speculation and dot connecting. Here’s our theories about who could possibly be the Riverdale killer.

Mary Andrews

The truth is, we don’t know a whole lot about Archie’s mom, Mary. She may seem nice enough, but the split from Fred may not have been as amicable as they want us to think. In fact, the spouse is often the first person of interest, if you’re to believe any of the Law and Order shows. She could still be harboring a lot of resentment about whatever went down between them, and the murder spree could have started as a legitimate crime of passion.

As for the other murders, well, if Archie’s suspicions are right, the Black Hood is targeting people because of him. It tracks that his mother would go after the teacher that initiated a relationship with her teenage son and the drug dealers trying to peddle him jingle jangle. She could be trying to keep Archie out of danger, and homicide is just the logical next best step.

Alice Cooper

It’s not be hard to imagine the intense and scary Alice Cooper killing anybody. In fact, she looks like she could come unwound in a super destructive way at any given moment. She and Betty’s dad, Hal, were among the only folks to know about Ms. Grundy, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine her losing it on the teacher. It’s a real Alice thing to do to strangle the lady with the bow Archie gave her.

She is also a witness to the jingle jangle transaction in the parking lot of Pop’s. Alice, no matter her icy doggedness, really wants to protect her loved ones and her town, so offing a couple of low-level drug dealers seems like acceptable collateral damage for a lady like Alice.

Cheryl Blossom

Cheryl Blossom is quickly becoming the season 2 stand out, and we are only beginning to see the depths of her insanity. After setting fire to her own home, taping the murder of her brother by her father, and going full-on Misery with her mother, we wouldn’t put anything past her.

We know Cheryl had a low-level crush on Archie in season 1, and he’s now her hero after saving her from certain death in the frozen Sweetwater River. Ms. Grundy could have gotten caught up in the emotional fallout of Cheryl’s unrequited love, because we know Cheryl goes all in on a scheme.

Cheryl could have offed Midge and Moose because they are usurping Cheryl’s drug business. She’s been open about taking on the Blossom legacy, and last year’s plot line reminds us that they were hocking far more than maple syrup. Her dad wasn’t kidding about Cheryl having “the stomach” for the hard stuff, and a few murders here and there don’t seem like too far for this bunch.
