Marvel’s Inhumans season 1 episode 5 recap and review: Something Inhuman This Way Comes

Marvel’s Inhumans slowly lets our Royal Family come back together on Earth. But how long until they make it back to Attilan?

With three episodes left, Marvel’s Inhumans looks to do some damage, make some progress, and threaten Maximus even more.

Not-So-Short Summary & Analysis

Louise drives Black Bolt and Medusa around, and when their Inhuman guest in the trunk wakes up, they go to find Karnak. The moment Medusa answers Locust’s phone and causes Maximus to pause feels really good. Maximus just grates me (which he’s supposed to, right?).

One of the best, most lighthearted scenes comes in a flashback when Gorgon shows up with a golf ball and the American flag that was planted on the moon. He just wanted to hang it in his room! It would look cool! Please, Inhumans, more scenes like this.

Now, I was going to go on a tangent about not really caring about Karnak’s plot line. But then multiple people got shot — one of them in the face — and it got a little more interesting. When Karnak and Jen make it back to camp, the drug buyers show back up to load the goods in their truck.

It apparently takes the whole night because by the time Karnak takes them on, it’s dark. Hey, at least he gets a great action scene! We haven’t had many of those so far in this show.

MARVEL’S INHUMANS  (ABC/Karen Neal)

ANSON MOUNT, SERINDA SWAN, ELLEN WOGLOM

Too bad he gets knocked out on his escape route. But at least Gorgon shows up to stomp some ass and they meet up with Medusa, Black Bolt, and Louise afterward. Anyone else see that immediate spark between Louise and Gorgon?

Locust was shot in their escape from the camp and begs with her last dying breath for Black Bolt to be the king they deserve.

Because honestly, the Royal Family really isn’t that great. They need to do something to make Attilan not a terrible place. They are honestly kind of hard to root for in this show. Hopefully that changes before the season finale.

Meanwhile Crystal tries to impress her new human friend with Lockjaw’s transportation powers. It works … That’s about all they do.

Post-Credits Stinger

On Attilan, Tibor gets gets cornered by a few of the faction that doesn’t believe in King Maximus. Cool! More mutiny!

Badass Moment of the Week

Watching Auran heal herself. How very Wolverine of her.

Best One-Liner

“Look, Gorgon is right 63 percent of the time…” Karnak tells his lady friend, and this line is hilarious out of context.

Is Declan going to actually do anything, plot-wise? He’s being dragged into the action by Auran, but he’s no Desmond in this show.

I also kind of agree with the one guy on the genetic council — everything Maximus does really feels more like it’s for the good of him, not the good of the people.

Next: Thor: Ragnarok’s comedy is apparently physical, too, for Loki anyway

Next week’s Inhumans looks like Crystal gets in on the action. Plus lots of fiery explosions. Check it out with us next week!
