Another set of the adorable children’s books that combine Doctor Who with Roger Hargreaves’ classic Mr. Men series will arrive next year.

Four new Doctors will get the Roger Hargreaves treatment next year, as the super adorable series of Doctor Who and Mr. Men mash-up books continues.

This series kicked off in 2012 with the release of books based on the First, Fourth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors. The second group featured the Second, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth incarnations of the renegade Time Lord.

The books are all done in the style of children’s author and illustrator Roger Hargreaves, the creator of such gems as Little Miss Chatterbox and Mr. Bump.  Since Hargreaves’ death in 1988, his son Adam has taken over the world he created, and continues to add characters to his father’s universe. His whimsical style fits perfectly with Doctor Who’s fantastical and frequently silly tone, resulting in books that are perfect for both children and adult Whovians of all ages.

A third set of these cute Doctor Who books will arrive on store shelves next February. The release of this group will complete the initial set of Hargreaves-style Doctor stories. (Or, more accurately: their release will mean that each Doctor has at least one individual story all his own.) This final group will include books based on the Third, Fifth, Six and Tenth Doctors.

(Technically, this will be the second Hargreaves book to feature the popular Tenth Doctor. He also got to headline the series’ Christmas installment, which arrives in stores this October.)

There’s no information just yet on what, if any, specific Doctor Who stories these latest books will adapt. Several of the previous installments told kid-friendly versions of well known Who tales, including “Rose” from the Ninth Doctor era, and “Survival” from the Seventh. The series has also done all new stories for its Doctors. But even those still tend to feature familiar monsters like Silurians, Zygons and Cybermen.

What, exactly, these stories will contain is still a mystery. One has to hope the Tenth Doctor story will feature an appearance by his former companion Martha Jones. (Both Rose Tyler and Donna Noble have appeared in this series already.) “Terror of the Autons” seems an obvious pick for a Third Doctor story to adapt in some way. Particularly since we’ve already seen two incarnations of the Master in these books already, so it would be nice to get a Mr. Men version of Roger Delgado. It will also be interesting to see how they turn the prickly Sixth Doctor into a kid-friendly cartoon.

But no matter what stories they tell, at least we know they’ll be super adorable.
