Did Casey Affleck just break some huge Ben Affleck Batman news?

Casey Affleck, brother of Batman—er, Ben Affleck—went on WEEI Sports Radio Network Tuesday to presumably talk Boston sports and promote his new films. But instead, he ended up dropping a huge revelation about his brother, Ben’s, future involvement in the DCEU.

Kid brothers are always making life difficult for their older siblings, and Casey has certainly given Ben some ‘splaining to do when it comes to his future as Batman.

On Tuesday, the WEEI hosts acknowledged that Casey doesn’t like being asked about his brother before proceeding to ask him if his brother was going to appear as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Ben, who was originally slated to both direct and star in the DECU film before handing over the helming duties to Reeves, theoretically put those rumors to rest at San Diego Comic-Con during the Warner Bros. panel.

Calling himself the “luckiest guy in the world” to have the opportunity to play Batman during the panel, Ben strongly affirmed his continued role in the DCEU, which has already included a starring turn in

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,

an appearance in

Suicide Squad

, and a pivotal role in the upcoming

Justice League:

However, Casey just brought those rumors back to life faster than the resurrection of Ra’s al Ghul.

“He’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think,” Casey said on the radio show. “Or so I would say.”

This, understandably, causes something of a commotion. When the hosts say that Casey is breaking news, he dials it down, but the damage had been done.

“Is that breaking news?” Casey asks. “I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”

Way to go, Casey.

It’s entirely possible that he has no idea what he’s talking about, but of course it’s also possible that the younger Affleck just revealed a truth Ben has, for whatever reason, worked hard to keep hidden.

After all, these rumors have persisted for weeks, and while Ben’s comments at SDCC were intended to squelch them 100 percent, Casey’s offhand remark matches what countless other sources have been speculating.

There has been no official response from Ben and his team regarding Casey’s comments.
