What does an Oscar push for Wonder Woman mean for Patty Jenkins?

If you’re a fan of Wonder Woman, you can rejoice because it seems as if Warner Brothers is giving it the ‘ole Oscar push. So what does that mean exactly?

Want to know what’s really amazing about Wonder Woman and its success? Well first of all, it is the first superhero movie directed by a woman. And on top of that, it’s breaking records. Director Patty Jenkins brought to life the world of Themysicra and we all fell in love!

For those who haven’t seen Wonder Woman yet, what are you doing? But you should. You can still see it in many cinemas and it’s been out for almost two months. The origin story of Diana Prince features amazing, brilliant action, and that’s all thanks to Patty Jenkins.

So now what’s the big story? Well, rumor has it Warner Brothers is going to be pushing for Oscar recognition for the film. They’re gunning for Best Picture as well as Best Director. (I’m just saying Best Actors for Gal Gadot and Chris Pine would also be pretty amazing.)

But there is something more interesting to be seen here. Yes, the movie is amazing and yes, Patty Jenkins deserves the world and more. (That’s my opinion but everyone should love Patty Jenkins. She’s incredible!)

The thing is, they are currently in negotiations for Wonder Woman 2 right now. So is this Oscar push because of their belief in the movie or because they want a better deal with Jenkins? After all, they barely promoted Wonder Woman in the beginning and it took the internet complaining enough about it for something to be done.

So now we’re at a weird standstill of “Did Warner Brothers believe in the film’s potential beforehand or do they now want to try and level the playing field since Patty Jenkins has all the leverage?” Either way, it is great to see Patty Jenkins and Wonder Woman getting the recognition they deserve. We’re excited to see what the sequel brings.
