The Stranger Things creators already know how and when it will end

Season 2 of Stranger Things hasn’t even come out yet, but the creators are already talking about the end. And they know exactly how and when it will happen.
While fans are gearing up for Season 2 of Stranger Things, the creators are already talking about the end. In fact, Jim Hopper’s David Harbour just revealed that the Duffer brothers know exactly how the show’s going to go out.
“We don’t have an open-ended thing like The Walking Dead,” Harbour told TVLine. The Walking Dead creators had previously talked about how the show could go on for years and years.
But for Stranger Things, “there is an end to all these characters,” Harbour explained. “We’re going to give you something fun and then we’re going to get out before we’ve worn out our welcome. We have a specific story that we’re going to tell.”
This isn’t the first time the end of Stranger Things has been teased. Season 2 will reportedly end on another cliffhanger, so there likely will be a third season. That said, the Duffer brothers have talked about how they don’t want to drag the show on and they want a satisfying ending. But “also we’ve laid the groundwork for further seasons,” they said.
There’s something to be said about going out on a high note. It’s good that they recognize they don’t want to wear out their welcome and that they have a plan in place for a satisfying ending. Season 1 of Stranger Things was met with such acclaim and I’m sure it’s hard to keep topping yourself. But talking about ending the show already feels a little premature. Season 2 hasn’t even come out yet!
So what can we expect from Season 2 of Stranger Things? Well, Harbour warned fans not to expect the same things as Season 1. So manage your expectations now.
“In general, I think people will be pretty excited about it, but I do think some people will expect something and not get it,” he said. “Some people may want the same thing [as Season 1], but we’re not going to give them that. Literally, upon reading the first five minutes of the first script, I realized we opened up the world in an entirely new way. And these characters go in an entirely new direction and have new arcs.”
From the trailer, we also know that Will will be having flashes to the Upside Down and Eleven will trapped in the Upside Down!
