At the highly-anticipated D23 Expo, Brad Bird rolled out some pretty awesome Incredibles 2 news about the plot and when the sequel film will take place.
The Incredibles set the stage for a sequel perfectly. The Parr family finally got on the same page with each other, the world realized that superheroes were kind of worth the damage expense and they introduced a new villain. Yet, it’s been 13 years and we still haven’t got a sequel to one of Disney/Pixar’s best films.
While the previous D23 gave us a poster, this year, Incredibles 2‘s director Brad Bird gave the audience something a little more glamorous.
First, Disney unpacked a cool Edna Mode video, which you can watch below.
Plus, they unveiled a new teaser poster as Brad Bird explained that Helen Parr (a.k.a Elastigirl) would be taking center stage.
More importantly, they showed the audience a video that Entertainment Weekly explains as follows:
"Despite Jack-Jack having demonstrated his powers at the end of the first movie, the family is still patently unaware of the potential of the youngest member of the Parr family. The footage showed Bob falling asleep while babysitting Jack-Jack, who notices a vagrant raccoon sifting through the trash outside. Jack-Jack slips outside and proceeds to pick a violent fight with the creature, who quickly turns from vicious to terrified when Jack-Jack unveils powers of telekinesis, laser vision, and, you know, that whole fireball thing. Bob comes out just in time to see the raccoon flee from his multiplied, superhuman baby—and let out a giant cheer: “He has powers!”"
Once again, Incredibles 2 will focus on the family and picks up right where the last film left off. Plus, it will include most of the main cast from the first film. But since it’s been more than a decade since they last recorded, the voice actor for Dash has since been replaced. I wonder if they brought him (Huck Milner) into the studio and asked how closely he could reenact that plane scene. Like, did they bring him in and say, “Okay, now say, ‘we survived but we’re dead.‘”

Although it’s been a long time, I wouldn’t want this movie to come back unless they got it all right. Only Toy Story beats The Incredibles, so I don’t need a goofy sequel to mess it up. Though, I do like what I’m seeing so far.
