To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their breakthrough release, The Con, Tegan and Sara are taking the album on tour. They announced Tuesday they’ll be playing special acoustic versions of each track on The Con X: Tour in 16 cities.

Tegan and Sara’s The Con holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Though it was the band’s fifth studio album, it was their first to chart on the Billboard 200. It boasts some of the duo’s best tracks, including “Back In Your Head”, “Nineteen”, and “Call It Off”.

The Con is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year. In celebration, Tegan and Sara have announced the 16-date The Con X: Tour. This fall, they will be performing special, acoustic versions of the album’s 14 tracks at each date. The tour spans across the US from October to November.

Anniversary tours have been hugely popular lately. Bands whose careers boomed in the 2000s are taking their best records on the road. The Con X: Tour follows that trend, but it also means something extra special to fans.

As LGBTQ icons, Tegan and Sara shows have become a safe haven for young LGBTQ people, particular women and nonbinary folks. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales to The Con X: Tour will go to the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which supports LGBTQ causes.

Tegan and Sara, twin sisters who both identify as lesbians, have spent their career fighting sexism and homophobia in the music industry. Their music openly explores issues of growing up, feeling weird around same-sex friends, discovering their sexuality and then coming to terms with that. Thus, it appeals to fans of many genres and their shows have always been open, inclusive spaces.

The Con, in particular, still resonates 10 years after its first release. In addition to The Con X: Tour, Tegan and Sara are apparently planning another celebratory project that has yet to be announced. They also plan to add more dates to the tour.
