Starz Releases New Outlander Season 3 Photos and Teaser Trailer

Starz has just released never before seen Outlander season 3 photos and they are proving the new season will be worth the wait.

It’s almost like an Outlander Christmas miracle in April. Starz has finally released new pictures from Outlander season 3. As if that wasn’t enough to get us through Doughtlander, they are also enticing us with a never seen before teaser trailer ahead of the premiere of Starz latest television show, The White Princess. This is fascinating news considering Outlander season 3 is still currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa. Recently, Outlander book series writer, Diana Gabaldon took a trip to Cape Town see how the production of her epic tale was going. To say the least, she was pretty pleased with the results.

Starz is hedging its bets on Outlander audiences falling in love with The White Princess. How many Outlander fans will stay to watch The White Princess after the teaser trailer is still unknown, but it’s not a bad way to start off a new series.

As we already know, in Diana Gabaldon’s third book, Voyager,  Claire and Jamie are in two different timelines. While Voyager immediately opens to Jamie and the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden the show will make a huge departure. Instead of learning about Culloden in a series of flashbacks like in the books, we’ll have the opportunity to see the gruesome battle in real time. This also implies we are going to see Jamie and Black Jack Randall face off once and for all.

One of the key criticisms of the Outlander book series after Voyager has been the lack of backstory of when Claire returns to her life with Frank in the 1960s. At its core, this story is about Claire and her experience. However, during the third book her point of view got lost. Looking at this picture of Claire and Frank gives us hope the show will not make the same mistake. It would be great to see Claire’s successes and struggles as a wife, mother and female doctor in the ’60s. Not to mention, we will do anything to keep Tobias Menzies on our screen.

Can we just talk about how amazing Caitriona Balfe looks with gray hair? It looks as if Claire has a halo of silver strands above her head. For a woman who has time-traveled twice and is 20 years older than when we last saw her, she’s looking great.

Entertainment Weekly will have exclusive pictures in this week’s issue of Outlander season three. That includes images from the bloody Battle of Culloden. Make sure you pick up a copy.
