Vulture in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” Looks Like A Chill Dude

Marvel Studios gives us our first look at the “down to earth” version of the Vulture we’ll see in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” He’s got a cool jacket

Marvel knows it has a villain problem, and it feels like Spider-Man: Homecoming will try to fix it. You know, after they reboot Spider-Man for a third time.

All joking aside, Marvel gave us our first look at Michael Keaton’s Vulture, who’s the big bad this coming summer.

We have our first still image from the movie showing Keaton’s character sans costume. And he looks like a pretty chill dude, like you could grab a beer with him! No billionaire status for Adrian Toomes, aka the Vulture.

In fact, they’re giving him a fun twist that will actually pull from all the other Marvel movies. Tooms runs a company that cleans up after all of the various Avengers’ altercations… until Tony Stark swoops in with his own company and runs him out. Alongside his cohorts the Shocker and the Tinkerer, they create a black market of weapons out of all the alien items they’ve scavenged in their cleanups.

It’s a cool concept, one that cements him in the superhero world while kind of keeping him an outsider as a normal person with no powers. Kind of like that Marvel one-shot, Item 47, where the couple finds that Chitauri gun and use it to their advantage.

Keaton has a good comment to make about his character, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:

"“Some people see themselves as victims — he sees himself a little bit like that,” Keaton says of Toomes. “He probably would have a strong argument that he never got a fair shot — a lot of ‘Why not me? Where’s mine?’ ”"

Imagine if something like this happened, superhero messes that weren’t a normal occurrence before. You’d probably feel pretty slighted as well, especially if one of those superheroes takes your job from you.
