Janelle Monáe Honored Among CFDA Nominees for 2017

Janelle Monáe is among those who are honorees this year at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)’s 2017 Awards this June.
The governing body for American fashion announced their nominations for 2017 yesterday afternoon. Known as the CDFA, the Council of Fashion Designers of America will hold their annual awards on June 5th 2017, in New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom.
Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg announced the nominees. The biggest award of the group is the Womenswear Designer of the Year, which include such names as Raf Simons, who recently left Dior for Calvin Klein, as well as Marc Jacobs of Marc Jacobs, the design team of Jack McCollough&Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler and Joseph Altuzarra, who is now of his own eponymous line, but formerly did stints at the latter two design houses. Rounding out the nominees are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. who have successfully made the transition from child stars to fashionistas with their brand, The Row.

Along with these awards, there is the usual battery of honorees that the council honors every year, for their celebrity services to the art of fashion. The biggest name of the group is Janelle Monáe, who was one of the highest flying fashion staples of the red carpet this past awards season. We can’t wait to see what she wears to this one.
