It seems like an appropriate month for Funko to announce new X-Men and Iron Fist figures, doesn’t it? Granted, we don’t have a new Wolverine … yet.
March is going to be a good month for Marvel fans. Today, Logan is officially in theaters, meaning that it’s a good day for fans of the X-Men (and of Hugh Jackman specifically). Then, midway through the month, Netflix will drop all of the episodes of the first season of Iron Fist onto its streaming service. It seems that Funko knows quite a bit about timing, because here are the two new entries into the Specialty Series:
Iceman will get a sweet new Pop figure, complete with some plastic ice to remind you that his power is not just surviving as a frozen-over human whenever he uses his powers as a mutant. The gradation on his face looks pretty sweet, too — his “hair” is clear. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he’ll always be cold. Maybe you should make him the guardian of your freezer?
As for the Iron Fist Dorbz, it looks like Funko has gone for a classic inspiration instead of the more modern Danny Rand that will feature in the Netflix series. (We also wonder if once Iron Fist gets some Pops, as have its Netflix predecessors like Daredevil, whether or not the Danny Rand Pop will go shirtless as to expose his chest tattoo, which is the Iron Fist logo.) The Dorbz smile is firmly in place, though, so we don’t think this figure will be punching anyone soon.
Basically, the Specialty Series is similar to the other store exclusives Funko releases as part of its lines, but it’s meant for comic book stores or specialty stores, according to an email press release accompanying the announcement.
