Game of Thrones Season 7 Premiere Date Leaked?

In an interview Liam Cunningham may have accidentally spilled the beans about when Game of Thrones Season 7 will return to HBO.

What do we know about Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere date? So far, the only clue we have is that the show will not be eligible for the 2017 Emmys. The cut off to be included requires a show to premiere the episode prior to May 31st, 2017. So as far as we know, the show returns June 1st or later.

Now, with only seven episodes, HBO could premiere it literally the first week of June, and be done before San Diego Comic Con. But many have speculated that the show won’t come back that soon–that in fact HBO will hold it to mid July, and premiere it in the slot previously held by True Detective.  That way the season will conclude just as the US reaches Labor Day weekend.

And now it looks like we have confirmation that that may in fact be the plan. Speaking to The Independent, Liam Cunningham, who plays Davos Seaworth, may have accidentally given away the goods.

"“I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the final season starts again as far as I know in September.”"

Of course, fans went wild. Cunningham, who would like to survive until the end of the show, tried to appease what were probably some very put out show runners and HBO executives with a tweet, insisting his “July” was mere speculation.

But with the cast assuming a July premiere date, it seems like it might be best for the rest of us to function under that impression as well. After all, Mongo is smarter than he knows.
