Oscars: When is Red Carpet?
By I. A. Melton
The Oscars red carpet event is the pinnacle of red carpet events for the award season. We have all the information on where you should watch.
As if there wasn’t any drama already leading up to Oscar Sunday, this year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences we will be charging a fee to TV stations and networks for broadcasting from the red carpet. This comes as a complete shocker for some press who have covering the Oscar red carpet for years. It’s a pretty smart move on the Academy’s part, since the Oscar red carpet is the most anticipated red carpet event of any year. Almost immediately after Oscar nominees are announced, designers are begging to dress them. Not to mention the post-Oscar coverage is more about who wore it best and less so on who won the award.
So that leads to the question who is going to have the best red carpet coverage and when will it start? Reportedly, per the Los Angeles Times linked above, the Academy is charging upwards to $500,000 for media outlets to broadcast live from the red carpet. This is going to leave some smaller networks out in the cold. Never fear. We’ve got you covered with all the best networks covering the 89th Academy Awards red carpet.
