Grammys 2017: Who Is Performing?
By Jenn Reid
Big name performers like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Adele and Beyonce are all expected to take to the stage at the 59th Annual Grammy Music Awards tonight!
The 59th Grammy Awards are coming up this Sunday, Feb. 12, and a slew of Grammy performers have been announced. So far, we can expect performances from well-known talent like the A-list pop stars of today to music icons. Plus, be ready for some unusual collaborations that the Grammys tend to be known for!
First, Katy Perry plans to perform. Rumor has it she will be dropping a new single just in time for the big show. Additionally, Katy teased a new song to be released on Feb. 10 entitled “Chained to the Rhythm,” and she reportedly worked on the song with Bob Marley’s grandson, Skip Marley. Expect the new song to make its first live appearance on the Grammy stage!
Beyonce is not officially confirmed to be performing at this year’s show, but Entertainment Tonight is reporting that Queen B will do it, twins and all. This won’t be the first time Beyonce performed while pregnant. She announced her pregnancy with Blue Ivy during a performance at the MTV VMAs in 2011.
Adele, on the other hand, is officially confirmed to perform, possibly as a make-up for last year’s Grammys where a technical difficulty messed up her performance. Plus, Adele earned five nominations for her album 25 and song “Hello,” and we expect to clean up once again this year. Other nominees performing their potential winning songs are Chance the Rapper, the first artist to be nominated for a streaming-only album, and Best New artist nominees Lukas Graham and Kelsea Ballerini.

Hot off her Super Bowl performing, Lady Gaga is teaming up with Metallica! Gaga may or may not jump off the roof of the Staples Centre or dangle on wires in front of the band. But she probably will be covering a lot of the vocals since Metallica frontman James Hetfield recently had to cancel shows due to illness.
Unfortunately, The Weeknd’s latest album is ineligible for the Grammys this year. He released it past the cut off date. However, he’ll still perform with Daft Punk. Of course, he collaborated with them for “Starboy”. Other onstage team-ups this year include country singers Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban; Alicia Keys and Best New Artist nominee Maren Morris; and A Tribe Called Quest and Anderson.Paak.
And then, there are the tributes! Little Big Town, Demi Lovato, Andra Day and Tori Kelly will all be performing as part of a Bee Gees tribute. Naturally, it will most likely be a medley of the band’s greatest hits, in honor of the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever.
There will also be tributes to two musical icons that we lost last year: Prince and George Michael. Although, the Grammys have not revealed who exactly will be performing. Last year’s David Bowie tribute was all Lady Gaga. But this year’s tributes remain under wraps so far. There is speculation that Grammy performer Bruno Mars will be the one to honor Prince. Obviously, that’s still unconfirmed — he might just be doing a performance of “24K Magic.”
The general “In Memoriam” segment of the Grammys will feature a song from John Legend and Cynthia Erivo. This is the time when the Grammys highlights the talented musicians and industry professionals who passed away this year.
Blues musician Gary Clark Jr. and soul singer William Bell also plan to perform, though it’s unclear if they plan to perform solo or as part of a tribute.
