Game of Thrones Filming To Continue Through The End of the Month

Game of Thrones filming continues to shed actors and actresses, but word is the production itself won’t finish until the end of the month.

As six more weeks of winter grind on, word is that Game of Thrones “winter” filming will do the same. One might have thought that principal photography for Season 7 was winding down imminently, as main characters like Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke and the like one by one announce they’re done until Season 8 starts up next September. But word is, the show still has a few more weeks to go.

In a completely unrelated to Game of Thrones interview with CBS, Conleth Hill, who has survived six seasons and counting as Varys the spymaster, admitted that he too was done until next fall, but that didn’t mean everyone else was.

In fact as far as he knows, they could be going deep into March!

"I can tell you that I am done with filming, which is why I am rehearsing for a play in London. I can tell you that their production is still going until the end of this month, maybe the next month."

It makes sense that if Tyrion (Dinklage) and Dany (Clarke) are finished with their filming, then Hill is too. His character is after all, an emissary for their faction.

Speaking of factions, Liam Cunningham all but admitted that the three main powerhouses that are left in Westeros (Jon Snow and Co, The Last of the Lannister and Team Targaryen) are going to be in heavy communication this coming season as the Wights of Winter attempt to take the field.

Speaking with People Magazine during the rehearsals for the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience, Cunningham said this year feels very different than others, because of the intercommunication between parties, who previously occupied the same screen, but never at the same time.

"We’ve seen the journey over the last season, and we know the danger that’s coming from the north, with the Night King and his band of merry men. And there’s no way any one team is going to take care of that. So there’s obviously messages flying back and forward between people, so it’s going to be really interesting and different feel in this season than in previous, at least it was when we were filming."

So who breaks the communications barrier first? Snow and Co seem the most obvious candidates, as they’re the ones who know the true dangers that are heading their way. Team Targaryen only just got here after all, and the Last of the Lannisters are ruled not only by the Queen of the Andals, but the Queen of Denial as well.

But with filming still going on, that means our hope of a trailer this month rapidly diminishes. It usually takes the production a good four to six weeks after filming is complete before we get our first footage of the season to come. If they’re not even close to done yet, it may be nearly April before the first trailer shows up.
