Here is the Full List of Art Directors Guild 2017 Nominations
By I. A. Melton
As the race to the Oscars heats up, we have the full list of nominations for the 21st Annual Art Directors Guild Awards.
With the award season in full swing, the Art Directors Guild revealed its nominations for 2017. Of course, it’s no surprise who made the list. As expected, Fences and Hidden Figures made the list for excellence in a period film. But Jackie is proving to be the little film that could. However, the most contentious category might be in Fantasy, where Doctor Strange, Fantastic Beasts, and Rogue One each made the list this year. This brings great news for Marvel, who won this very category last year with Guardians of the Galaxy. Meanwhile, La La Land and Manchester by the Sea are the fan favorites in the Contemporary section.
Last year’s Emmy favorite The People v. O.J. Simpson looks to add another win in the Limited Series category, but will find stiff competition with American Horror Story.
Art Directors Guild found some new blood in the Period/Fantasy category with The Crown, Westworld, and Stranger Things. Though, the biggest threat to any new television show vying for the award is still the HBO juggernaut Game of Thrones. They took home the award three times in the last four years.
Naturally, congratulations are in order for Beyoncé, who earned four nominations. Obviously, this proves that she’s the best at everything she does. Further, she scored one nomination in the Special Event category and three Short Format Music Videos for Lemonade.
During the awards presentation, the production designer of My Fair Lady, Gene Allen will be inducted into the ADG Hall of Fame. The guild will also present four Lifetime Achievement Awards to production designer René Lagler, scenic artist Albert Obregon, set designer Cate Bangs and senior illustrator Joseph Musso.
