3 OMG Moments From The Walking Dead’s “Service”

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is making us more and more antsy for Rick Grimes to man the hell up, and take his dignity back.

If you haven’t watched The Walking Dead’s “Service,” you can catch the full recap here. I’ll break it down for you though:

As the past two episodes have focused on Morgan and Carol in The Kingdom, and Daryl in Camp Negan, this 90-minute episode “Service” took us back to Alexandria. Negan makes a surprise visit to collect some supplies. Nobody is happy to see him, as expected. Negan brings Daryl along. To rub it in Rick’s face that he belongs to Negan now? Maybe. Either way, it was nice to finally see Daryl back at home base- even if it wasn’t for long.

Rosita, Michonne, and Father Gabriel were quick on their feet this week, and down the line, I think they’ll all come in handy when they finally go up against Negan. Michonne is training herself to shoot, probably so she can put a bullet in Negan’s head one day. Rosita is hoarding guns. And Father Gabriel is just being an all around badass.

Then there’s Dwight, being a jerk. I thought the little bit of compassion we saw last week would carry into this week. Wrong.

The episode was basically 90 minutes of Negan and his posse bullying people around. And to be honest, I’m getting so sick of it. I’m ready for them to fight back, and Michonne and Rosita seem to be ready too. Oh, and Carl! I can’t forget Carl. He was ready to shoot one of the saviors in this episode over stealing his mattress.

Okay, now on to my 3 OMG moments from “Service.”

We hate Negan. Like, we really hate Negan.

I’m not sure there’s even a word in the English dictionary to explain my hatred towards Negan. Every week, I find myself clenching my fists a little tighter, and I’m getting sick of it. We’ve had plenty of enemies on this show. We’ve had plenty of death. But Negan makes the past look like child’s play. I’m not saying he’s ruining the show, although a lot of people do feel that way, but I am saying he’s way overstayed his welcome. He needs to go and he needs to go now.

His aggression and his mind games are sick. But then he does them all with a smile on his face. And I don’t know which one is more disturbing. Like the runaway said in the “The Cell,” there’s only one of him, so why are people sucking up to him so much. If they all just joined together and fought against him and the few people who actually believe what he believes, he’d be a goner in no time. I can’t believe a lot of the people in his camp agree with everything he does. They can’t. It’s inhumane.

And I thought the cattle vs. butcher storyline was horrifying….

Was Daryl using morse code?

There has been talk that Daryl is using morse code in this episode. At first, I didn’t catch it. But then I played the episode back, and there it was. Hard to notice if you aren’t looking for it but once you know, your mind is blown.

Daryl keeps his mouth shut through this entire episode. But maybe that’s for a reason- to act like everything’s “business as usual,” but really, he’s giving Rick the inside scoop.

Check out the video of it:

To be honest, I did notice this the first time I watched it, but I thought it was just a nervous tick Daryl had going on. In my defense, this man is being tortured, beaten, sleep deprived, and starved. I would have a nervous tick going on too. But people are saying that it’s definitely morse code, and it’s spelling out “east.” Will Rick use this information, or has Rick given up on fighting Negan’s newfound leadership for good?

Are the women in this show out-badassing the men?

Let’s talk about some people who definitely aren’t giving up the fight against Negan’s newfound leadership. This isn’t an “OMG” moment of disbelief. This is an “OMG” moment of YES, FINALLY. This show has never lacked on badass women but is it possible that this season they’re overshadowed the men? I think it is and I am living for it. Michonne and Rosita this week proved that they had it in them to fight back. Rick Grimes is ready to give up his leadership (or so we’re lead to believe…), whereas Michonne is out practicing her aim, Rosita is out looking for extra guns and ammo, and even Enid is coming into her own and standing up to the Saviors.

What does the future of The Walking Dead hold for us? We’re not sure yet. But we can hope that Rick finally mans up and realizes this isn’t going to fly for him. This is Rick Grimes’ world and there’s no room in it for Negan.
