How to Get Away with Murder: 4 Unresolved Storylines for Season 4

After a completely bonkers finale to How to Get Away with Murder, here are some plotlines that should extend into next season.

After an entire weekend, yours truly still hasn’t completely gotten over the season finale of How to Get Away with Murder. It did not help that the Oscars decided to lull us all into watching and then drop a massive surprise right at the end there. Honestly, it completely ruined my processing time. However, after some thought, I’ve managed to pull together three storylines to keep an eye on going into the next season of How to Get Away with Murder.

Obviously, if you haven’t seen the finale yet, you may want to look away now. Spoilers follow.

Laurel’s Dad and Dominic

We now know that the man who killed Wes, Dominic, works for Laurel’s dad. In fact, Dominic called Mr. Castillo as Annalise’s house burned. So was this just a way of making sure Laurel doesn’t end up with someone completely and totally unsuitable (at least in his opinion) for her? If so, murder is a little extreme, don’t you think? However, it’s possible that Mr. Castillo has caught wind of all the trouble his daughter has ties to and has decided to tie up the loose ends for her. Are  he and Dominic friends or foes of the Keating Four and Annalise? That remains to be seen. Right now, we lean towards Dominic acting as the representative of Mr. Castillo’s interests, whether or not he actually says what he’s doing.

The Fracturing Keating Four

Remember, Laurel, Asher, Connor, and Michaela don’t know who killed Wes just yet. The audience does, as we have the power of flashback when the show decides to give it to us. The season finale, however, showed that the remaining Keating Five members do not get along well at all, with Connor and Laurel basically on opposite ends and Michaela and Asher in the middle with their own vague agenda and a budding romance. They still have a common enemy in the suddenly evil D.A. Denver … or they did until Annalise neutralized him. However, our presumed protagonist might still be a little off her game, and we don’t know if she can hold her remaining students together long enough to see them not all simultaneously go to the cops.

Frank, Frank, Frank

He’s back… well, sort of. After walking out of jail and doing everything short of kissing Annalise’s ring, Frank appears to be back on the team in some capacity. What that capacity is remains to be seen. At this point, he’s too visible to do a lot of the dirty work he used to handle for the law offices. What good is that? Not much. However, he did vow to do whatever he has to to get back in her good graces. We fully expect Annalise to use that as often as she possibly can.

Wes and Annalise

So, during Annalise’s monologue to close the season out, she dropped a bombshell of a line. Remember, she’s talking about Wes here (unless she has another student which she had a weird relationship with, which is not outside the realm of possibility):

That’s her saying “He was my son,” not just “he was like my son.” So wait, did Annalise actually have Wes? That makes not a lot of sense, but it’s something the show should address going forward. We know he’s related to the Mahoneys because of the DNA test and the meeting with Sylvia in the season finale. However, it didn’t say anything about Rose actually being his mother.

In other words, the plot has thickened yet again.
