Video game news over the last week are all over the board. There's definitely less Nintendo Switch this week, but still some nuggets of information, so let's dive right in.

The upgraded Switch 2 price for Zelda

Nintendo did come out and give us the price on the Switch 2 upgraded versions for both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Surprisingly, it's only a $10 upgrade for each game. I honestly expected more from Nintendo.

However, they did also come out and say that the DLC for Breath of the Wild will not be included in the upgraded Switch 2 versions. There's the Nintendo we all know!

Death Stranding movie has a director

I mean, playing Death Stranding feels like watching a movie, but if you're invested in a big screen version of the game, Deadline has reported that Michael Sarnoski has been tapped as director. He's most well-known for Pig and A Quiet Place: Day One, which are both very fitting for just how weird and dark Death Stranding can be. It feels like this adaptation will be in good hands.

Oblivion remake could shadowdrop at any moment

Yes, you read that right, the highly rumored, hotly anticipated Oblivion remake from Bethesda is reportedly going to release very soon. There was always the rumor that they would announce it and it would release soon after the announcement, but Jeff Grubb at Giant Bomb says that it will be sometime this month and potentially release on the same day.

Triple-i Initiative 2025

The second annual Triple-I Initiative happened earlier this week. If you're not familiar, it's a showcase for just indie games. No hosts and no ads, just videos for games. They announced dozens of indie games, new release windows, and new updates.

You can find a list of every single announcement here, but the ones that had us most excited were for Duskfade (a "clockpunk" platformer), Cloverpit (a mix of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette), Over the Hill (a four-wheeled puzzle game), and the one that has me most excited: a longer look (and release window!) for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

The Last of Us season 2 release and reviews and renewal

Before the premiere of season 2 has even aired, HBO has (unsurprisingly) renewed The Last of Us for a third season. They've already said how it will most likely be four seasons.

The second season premieres on April 13 and it's getting solid reviews across the board. It'll be interesting to see how they change things from the game. Being able to show both Ellie and Abby's parts concurrently rather than having to do a time jump from Ellie to Abby.

What video game news has you excited this week? Will you be watching The Last of Us when it premieres? Let us know in the comments!
