Everyone's favorite Midwest Princess and her team sent her fanbase into a whirlwind recently with the promotion of and release of her latest single The Giver. For the single's artwork, there are five different variants. In one version Roan is portrayed as a lawyer wearing a navy suit, a collared shirt, with a striped tie. Bucking the trend from her signature red curls, her mane is in a slicked back up-do. This is a much different look for the singer as it is much more conservative, rather than the dramatically campy style her fans have fallen in love with.
The toned-down look is not a bad thing, instead just a different thing, and displays Roan's versatility. Another interesting tidbit is Roan's makeup on the single cover, she is not wearing her signature white clown-inspired foundation. This could be one of two things: she is transitioning into a new era ahead of her anticipated sophomore album, or she could simply be playing a character for this particular song.
A Deep Dive on the Vinyl Variants
Moreover, all five variants received their own vinyl pressing and cover. The attorney version is blue. The dentist pressing is pink. The plumber vinyl is the only of the five to feature multiple colors and is blue and clear. The construction version is fittingly orange. And, last but not the least, the private investigator pressing is light grey.
The vinyl's are a pre-order item, and per Roan's website says they will ship on or around August 18, 2025. Initially, it was assumed the song may not have been released until the end of summer given the ship date. However, The Giver was released on March 13, 2025.
Examining the Promotion for The Giver
Roan and her team hosted nine official single listening parties across the US, in Gay bars of course, complete with Drag performances. Five different free poster's were given away at these events, each featuring one of the singles five cover-art variations.
If you thought the song sounded familiar, that is because Roan already debuted the song during her appearance on Saturday Night Live in November 2024. The song is Roan's first country-style track and fans have already been memorizing the lyrics thanks to that SNL performance.
Additionally, there is a number you can call (620) HOT-TO-GO (468-8646) and you will be met with five different options. The first option is for the dentist, the second is for an attorney, the third a plumber, the fourth is for construction, and the fifth and final option is for a P.I. aka a private investigator. The song also received billboard and traditional paper flyer promotion across the US, which was a very unique way to promote a single in the modern digital age.
Since Roan was depicted as rather masculine on the vinyl artwork, it is not surprising these five options are traditionally male-dominated fields, hinting at a potentially epic music video for The Giver. For now, though fans will have to enjoy the official lyric video while they wait. All in all, whatever Chappell Roan and her team have up their sleeves; both the hype for and promotion of this single were both fun and huge, and the promotion for her sophomore album will most certainly be even bigger and better!
