For those, like myself, who did not attend Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan, fear not, for there is countless footage, posts, and plenty of information about who was there, what was announced, and then some. One of the biggest unveilings was a first look at the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, releasing in theaters next year.

Din Djarin and Grogu are returning after three successful and exciting seasons of the Disney+ Star Wars show The Mandalorian. Literally changing the game of Star Wars, catapulting Pedro Pascal's career even further, and turning Grogu into one of the most recognizable faces in all of Star Wars, expectations are incredibly high for this film.

Taking to the stage for the segment was Din Djarin himself, Pedro Pascal, newcomer to the franchise, Hollywood royalty Sigourney Weaver, creator and showrunner of The Mandalorian Jon Favreau, the impossibly adorable BDX Droids, and even Grogu himself (well, an animatronic version of the little force sensitive Mandalorian apprentice foundling)! After three seasons, our heroic duo is taking their adventures to the big screen, where audiences caught glimpses of Pascal and Weaver in costume and learned, somewhat, what to expect from the upcoming film.

This included the appearance of Rotta the Hutt, Grogu using his powers, and Din Djarin battling with an AT-AT. Nothing short of action-packed, which is to be expected.

While all footage of The Mandalorian & Grogu remains currently hidden from the rest of the world, many, including myself, are looking forward to seeing another Star Wars film dominate theaters as they once did years ago. With such a popular franchise and story that continues to thrill audiences, we can't see why The Mandalorian & Grogu won't be a huge summer blockbuster and bring new life into Star Wars.

While we wait to learn more, The Mandalorian is available for streaming on Disney+.

The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
