Which SmartSweets treat should you pair with your favorite movie genre?

If you've never heard of SmartSweets, you've probably been living under a rock. If you have, then you've probably tried them or enjoyed them while watching a movie or show.

Summer 2024 has truly felt like a whirlwind when it comes to movies. Of course, no movie is complete without a little snack. SmartSweets has so many different options and the brand was kind enough to send some samples for us to try.

Since I was able to try some of the brand's different offerings, I wanted to make sure I came up with something extra special. Since there are a few different flavors, I figured why not pair it with some movie genres? You could grab a bag before your next movie night and you'll be set before the movie even starts.

With that being said, I'd like to thank SmartSweets for sending me some of their candies to try so let's get into which candies pair best with which movies.

These SmartSweets treats are great picks for movie watching.

Sweet Fish: Pair with a comedy

Starting off with a classic, I had to begin with Sweet Fish. While they might not look like another brand, these have such a unique taste to them. While it might not be for everyone, I wanted to pair it with something that is also subjective. That's why I think Sweet Fish would be great to munch on while watching a comedy.

In theaters, you could try out something like Despicable Me 4 or The Fabulous Four if you're planning to go out with your SmartSweets. If not, you could try streaming Hit Man with Hollywood's hottest man: Glen Powell, or go with a classic like Dumb and Dumber.

Sourmelon Bites: Pair with a mystery

Moving onto some sour options, SmartSweets has Sourmelon Bites. These are sweet and sour which is usually how most of us feel while watching a mystery flick. It starts off one way and then goes the other so basically, you're left guessing. These Sourmelon Bites won't leave you guessing though as they're tasty and just the right amount of sour and sweet without being over-the-top.

There are currently two mysteries out or about to come out which are Trap and Cuckoo. Both can also be considered horror but for this list, we're counting them as mysteries. As for my homebodies, maybe try something like A Simple Favor on Netflix or Deep Water on Hulu. Either way, both will give you that mixture of dread and excitement that only comes with a mystery.

Peach Rings: Pair with an action flick

Moving onto Peach Rings, I feel like this is a snack everyone loves and SmartSweets put their spin on it. This is where I confess that I only got to eat one of these as my boyfriend ate the rest. With that being said, it's clear they were good and with the one I tried, I feel like these would be great for an action film. They're classic and are exactly what you're looking for which is what most of us think when going into an action movie.

Right now, there are plenty of action movies out in theaters as Deadpool & Wolverine and Twisters are the biggest releases right now. For those staying at home, you can stream Deadpool's previous installments on Disney+ or even, stream the original Twister which is currently streaming on Max.

Sour Blast Buddies: Pair with a horror

If I had to pick a favorite of SmartSweets lineup that I've tried, it has to be Sour Blast Buddies. I ended up eating this bag myself. It was so good and the mixture of sour and sweet works so well together. I already touched on how some people love and hate sour so for my other sour pick, I decided to pair with a horror movie.

Not only will you be stress-eating these while watching, but you'll probably be so scared you won't even know they're gone. In theaters right now, you can head out to see Longlegs or A Quiet Place: Day One. As for horror flicks at home, the first two films in the A Quiet Place franchise are streaming on Paramount+. Since some have compared Longlegs to The Silence of the Lambs, you can stream that on MGM+.

Pink Lemonade Dream: Pair with a rom-com

Moving onto the final treat, I had to save another one of my faves for last and that's Pink Lemonade Dream. These are sweet and a little tart, making them the perfect summer pick. Plus it's Barbie so I feel like I had to go with an answer that Barbie would appreciate. Plus these are ones I've tried and bought previously so I knew these were good.

How could I not go with a romance or rom-com for Pink Lemonade Dream? It's basically asking for it at this point. For movies in theaters, I'd go with something light and fun like The Fabulous Four. As for options at home, you could stream Anyone but You on Netflix, The Idea of You on Amazon Prime or She's All That on Pluto TV. Either way, there is no shortage of great rom-coms out there to enjoy.

As you can see, there are plenty of different treats from SmartSweets to enjoy and pair with your movie of choice. Either way, you'll bound to have a fun time, no matter what you decide to watch.
