Ted Lasso Award-Winning Actress Hannah Waddingham to serve as Godmother of Princess Cruises

 As playing the role of a sports team owner in the Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso, the award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham will fill the shoes of an honorary, maritime tradition as the Godmother of the Princess cruises for the newest boat to Sun Princess that will officially headline in a star-studded ceremony.

The group Waddingham will serve as a godparent to Princess ships such as Diana, Princess of Wales (Royal Princess, 1984), Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales (Royal Princess, 2013); Audrey Hepburn (Star Princess, 1989); Sophia Loren (Crown Princess, 1990); Martha Stewart (Crown Princess, 2006), among widely known celebrities.

 British actress Waddingham’s performance in Ted Lasso as Rebecca Welton earned her a Primetime Emmy, Critics Choice, Screen Actors Guild plus a Golden Globe nomination. She will star opposite Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling in Universal’s The Fall Guy in addition to lending her voice in animation for Sony’s latest Garfield movie and her face will be present onscreen in 2025 for Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two. 

 Princess Cruise president John Padgett expressed a delighted welcome to have the luminous and elegant Hannah Waddingham to serve as the Godmother for their new Sun Princess ship.

"Just like Sun Princess, she exudes sophistication, beauty, and wonderment through her inspiring work as a talented and award-winning actress and performer,” Padgett said. “We're truly honored Hannah will officially name our most impressive, luxurious, and stunning Love Boat ever created, and join an esteemed group of Princess Godparents including members of the Royal family."

 The new 177,882-ton newly Sun Princess ship holds 4,300 guests and introduces an exclusive design complete with an engineering marvel. However, the Sun Princess started the inaugural cruise season on February 28, 2024, and is sailing a series of Mediterranean voyages before debuting in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in October for the ship's first Caribbean season. 

 The Sun Princess’s Love Boat ceremony with Waddingham as the main face of the event will take place in the Port of Barcelona, Spain on April 28, this year.
