Taylor Swift leads with ten MTV VMA nominations-as she should

Taylor Swift is landing the 2024 MTV VMA nominations in ten categories, including "Video of the Year." Many of her nominations are a collaboration with rapper Post Malone, who shared his talent with Swift on the Tortured Poets Department track "Fortnight." If she snags the coveted Moonman trophy, she'll smash her own VMA record by winning the category five times and three years in a row. But Ms. Swift has some healthy competition, all vying for awards.

Other hopeful contenders include Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, and Eminem, with first-time VMA nominations for Benson Boone and Tyla, Chappell Roan, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, Rauw Alejandro, Sexyy Red, Victoria Monét, Alexander Stewart, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Flyana Boss, Gracie Abrams, Gunna, Joyner Lucas, Laufey, LE SSERAFIM, Lojay, Morgan Wallen, Myke Towers, NCT Dream, Pheelz, Playboi Carti, RAYE, Shaboozey, Tyler Childers and The Warning, per a press release obtained by FanSided on August 6th.

It'll also be Carpenter's first nomination for "Artist of the Year," "Song of the Year," and "Best Pop."

For those outside the most nominated and "newbies," MTV recognized rock artists were also recognized for their hard work in the music industry. They include U2, Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Green Day, and COLDPLAY.

The MTV VMAs ceremony is scheduled to air on MTV and its sister channels on September 10th at 8 PM EST/7 PM CST. It will take place in New York at the UBS Arena; no host has been confirmed as of this writing.

Fans can vote for their desired nominee up to ten times a day by heading to MTV.com/vma/vote. Polls are open until August 30th.
