Sofia Vergara says having kids was factor in Joe Manganiello divorce

It's been six months since Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello's divorce. The couple announced their separation in July 2023 after seven years of marriage.

As with many celebrity splits, Vergara and Manganiello sparked speculation about their divorce. Neither side has been staying quiet, but now Vergara is opening up about what went wrong in her marriage.

Like many couples, Vergara and Manganiello had their disagreements. One issue that the couple had different opinions about was having children. In a recent interview with El País, Vergara revealed that kids were a factor in the couple's divorce.

Vergara, 51, is already a mom to 32-year-old Manolo, her son from her first marriage to Joe Gonzalez. The Modern Family actress didn't want to have any more children, but Manganiello, 47, wanted kids.

"My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn't want to be an old mom. I feel it's not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that's not for me anymore."

At this stage in her life, Vergara says she's ready to be a grandmother instead of a mother again.

"I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I'm ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children. I'm almost in menopause; it's the natural way of things. When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I'll give it back to him and go on with my life; that's what I have to do."

Although her marriage to Mnganiello ended, Vergara hasn't given up on love. The Griselda star has been spotted with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. As for Manganiello, he's now dating actress Caitlin O'Connor.
