Halsey has released a brand new song titled "Ego." This is her new teaser to her upcoming concept album named ‘The Great Impersonator,’ which is hitting the markets on October 25th. The track was released on Friday, September 6, making it the fourth cut from the much-hyped album on its way. Containing a sound reminiscent of that of the ’90s, “Ego” continues the tradition of Halsey experimenting with various decades and fans have been getting along with the concept.

The song was initially previewed during the American singer Halsey’s live performance at KOKO, in London on August 14. When she performed it during a concert for the first time she said to the audience, “I’ve been hyping this new song for the past few days. You are the first people in the whole wide world to listen to this song… including some people at my record label. ” The fans also got very excited to listen to the song that Halsey has labeled as ‘crazy’ adding that it is also reminiscent of the 90s.

In the teaser of the “Ego” song that came before Halsey sings words “I think that I should try to kill my ego/ ‘Cause if I don’t, my ego might kill me." Such lyrics are rather profound, personal, and heavy, something which has become a signature of Halsey’s songs and strikes a chord with most audiences.

Before the official release of The Great Impersonator, Halsey started a scavenger hunt earlier this week to find hidden time capsules across the globe which revealed the different versions of the album cover. This has triggered more excitement to the album as this has made people feel they are in touch with the creativity of Halsey.

Once again, showing the change in style, and exploring various genres, Halsey demonstrates the feelings of various eras of greatness in “Ego.” Listen to “Ego” below and prepare to hear even more of it when The Great Impersonator arrives on October 25th.

The Great Impersonator is going to be Halsey’s fifth studio album, and the one that is going to be released after If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, her 2021 album that ranked at number two on the Billboard 200. While explaining about the album, Halsey said, “I made this record in the space between life and death, and it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it.” While we are still a while away from the full experience of the album, fans are now able to enjoy “Ego”.
