Cillian Murphy has been in the show business for over 20 years, having developed an impressive filmography. However, with each coming project, he has proved his versatility and range, which is a true testament to how well he has mastered his craft. In his most recent movie, Oppenheimer, he played Robert. J. Oppenheimer, a.k.a., the father of the atomic bomb, for which he prepared intensely for six months, right from reading the Bhagavad Gita to skipping meals and having one almond a day. It's undeniable that his performance came out to be realistic, gripping, and exceptional.

Oppenheimer turned out to be a huge success, crowning itself as the biggest biopic of all time. Recently, Cillian Murphy also got the title of Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes, where the 2023 film was nominated eight times and took home five trophies. Currently, the movie has also bagged 13 nominations at the upcoming BAFTA, along with numerous accolades at the recent Critics Choice Awards (see the list here). If you're wondering what's next for Murphy after his award-winning performance in Oppenheimer, here's everything you need to know about his upcoming projects.

Peaky Blinders has been a beloved crime show among fans that ran for six seasons, centering around the lives of the wealthy Shelby family and their gangster business led by the ambitious and smart Thomas Shelby, played by Murphy. Although the famous series ended in 2022, a Peaky Blinders movie is said to be in the works. As per recent reports, creator Steven Knight revealed in an interview with the Radio Times that the filming will commence in mid-2024. See his comment below.

"I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment... The plan is to start shooting that in the middle of [2024]."

Speaking of Murphy, he is open to reprising his famous character, Thomas Shelby, but didn't seem to have any official updates about the movie when asked in an interview. He said:

"That’s probably the worst thing about Peaky Blinders – getting asked about the movie all the time! I would love to do a movie if there’s more story to tell. I’ll wait and see but I have no update for you on that."

However, if he returns, it would be an exciting Murphy project to look forward to considering the fanbase the series has built over the years. As of now, plot, cast, and release date details haven't been disclosed.
