When the pixelated screen hit social media accounts a few days ago, everyone started to guess which Halloween Horror Nights 34 house or theme would be revealed. In a recent announcement from the seasonal event’s social media accounts, Five Nights at Freddy’s will be part of Universal’s programming.

According to social media channels, Five Nights at Freddy’s will be featured at both Universal Studios locations in Hollywood and Orlando. Although specific details have yet to be revealed, the Blumhouse product will be part of the seasonal event.

The announcement is not necessarily shocking news for HHN fans. First, Blumhouse is a constant collaborator with Halloween Horror Nights. From Happy Death Day to Black Phone, many of the popular horror films have been transformed into spooky experiences for fans.

Those collaborative efforts have been well-received by fans. Given that Blumhouse has a strong hand in creating the authentic, spooky experiences in real life, people cannot wait to put themselves into those movie moments. Even though the lines of fiction and reality are somewhat blurred, the truth is people long to step into that movie moment.

Adding Five Nights at Freddy’s is not necessarily an unexpected announcement. During last year’s Halloween Horror Nights, there were references to the popular movie and video game. Many people had hoped that the immersive bar would have more immersive aspects to that creepy restaurant.

For those people who have not played the game or watched the movie, the premise is straightforward. The story line has people stepping into the twisted world of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While some people might see a connection to a real life pizza restaurant, this twist tale does not bring laughter and happy endings.

Adding this concept to Halloween Horror Nights is smart for Universal. It is more than just a popular, well-loved concept coming to life. It crosses over several aspects of the annual season event. The food and beverage offerings are an instant connection. The theme is easy to adapt a storyline to a haunted house as well as a scarezone. Overall, it is a huge win for everyone involved.

Universal Orlando Resort Halloween Horror Nights begins August 29 and runs through November 2. The Hollywood event runs from September 4 through November 2. More information can be found on each theme park’s website.
