The end of Grey's Anatomy Season 21 is only weeks away, and the show seems to be gearing up for a whirlwind spring finale. Last week's episode ended with the revelation that Jo and Link's wedding would be happening in just four days -- among other things, of course -- and thanks to the promo for this week's episode, we know the wedding is going to be the next main event.
Season 21, episode 17 "Love You Like a Love Song" will seemingly feature two main storylines -- the wedding and the aftermath of last week's cliffhanger: Amelia's risky surgery may not have produced the outcome she was hoping for. She not only has to deal with the possibility that the child she operated on may never be the same again, but must also support the distraught parents she promised good news to (as much as she could).
The promo also reveals the surprise -- though obviously not a suprise anymore -- that Levi will make a guest appearance in a welcome return to the show, even if only temporary. The character left the show last season to pursue a fellowship in another state, but the show has allowed him and Jo to keep in touch. He will apparently officiate the wedding.
And let's speculate on said wedding for just a moment. Grey's really knows how to craft memorable weddings, and has from the beginning. Cristina's wedding ended in her walking away from Burke forever. April's wedding turned into her leaving her fiancé for Jackson. And every few weddings overall in this show have ended in true happily-ever-afters. Most recently: Maggie and Winston. Heck, this wedding is only happening now because another wedding fell through when one of Jo's patients decided she didn't want to marry the supposed love of her life.
What's in store for the next Grey's wedding? Who knows. There's always disaster looming around the corner, especially when there are yet-to-be-born babies involved. I'm confident that Jo and Link are going to survive the ordeal though, both literally and figuratively. The show wouldn't go through all this effort just to break them up ... would they? Well ... they could.
I choose optimism. I choose to believe, despite whatever devastating cliffhangers soon await us, these two are most definitely going to be okay. Just let me have this, for this one moment.
