When Night Court returned to NBC, the blend of new faces in a familiar setting kept the laughs rolling. In the Season 3 episode, “Pension Tension,” a favorite character returns, but is she really ready to make this temporary situation a permanent one?
Although Night Court might not have the high drama of Law and Order, the court room setting lends itself to a wide array of shenanigans. From Abby’s dating dilemmas to Dan’s various stumbles, the unpredictable nature of all the characters keeps the audience on its toes.
Airing on Tuesday, February 18, the Night Court episode “Pension Tension” brings back a favorite character, Roz. Anyone who watched the original series appreciates that Roz has a way with a phrase and get what she wants.
Played by Marsha Warfield, Roz often tells it like it is. Her role as bailiff might be part of law and order, but there can be a hidden agenda woven into those rules.
In this exclusive clip provided to Culturess, Abby and Roz might not have the same thought on who should be permanently keeping the order in the courtroom.
This clip captures what makes Night Court special. The turn of a phrase, a choice of infection, and even a side eye at the end of the sentence changes the meaning in an instant. Those moments keep the viewer engaged and watching time and again.
More importantly, it is the ensemble that works well together. That give and take between the actors is essential to getting the audience to laugh.
Whether or not Roz returns permanently to Night Court remains to be seen. Still, the blend of the original show with the new characters is the bridge that people want to see. It is a sense of nostalgia with a modern take. Abby can sometimes step too far into that Pollyanna mentality. Luckily, she has a strong support system to wrangle her back to reality.
Will Roz stand tall in the court room going forward? Be sure to watch Night Court Season 3 episode 8, “Pension Tension,” on Tuesday, February 18 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes can be streamed the next day on Peacock.
