Some big changes are coming to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Fans of the highly successful and popular Star Wars Disney Plus series The Mandalorian will be thrilled to know that a new adventure is on the way in celebration of the release of the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu.

On May 26, 2026, the day of the film's release, fans will get to enjoy this new adventure and update to the thrilling Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride. Fans of Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and force-sensitive creature and future Mandalorian Grogu, can meet the duo at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

But now, they'll get to come along on a ride through settings from the film, which seem to include Cloud City and possibly the remains of the Death Star. The announcement came from The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau and Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama at The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW.

But that's not all! R2-D2 and BB-8 might have some new competition, for the adorable BDX droids are here!

They will be arriving on the big screen, ready to capture the hearts of many (including me)! Originally, Batuu, the fictional planet that encompasses Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, had been focused on the Star Wars sequel trilogy, featuring characters such as Rey and Kylo-Ren while incorporating Stormtroopers and Chewbacca.

However, audiences haven't embraced the new characters as openly as the legendary Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. But no one can deny that perhaps the most popular newer Star Wars characters are Din Djarin and Grogu, who may bring new success and life into Batuu, especially after the unfortunate failure of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel.

If this new update is indeed a success, we're curious as to which characters from The Mandalorian will be joining Din Djarin and Grogu in the theme parks. We're equally curious if new attractions or restaurants will also be themed after the father-son duo.

Considering immersion is probably the most important detail Disney Parks focus on, we are expecting a fast-paced, exhilarating adventure that will thrill guests time and time again! What do you think of the update?
