Alycia Debnam-Carey, best known as Commander Lexa in The 100 and as Alicia in Fear The Walking Dead, among several more credits, is set to star in the yet-to-be-titled Monsterverse franchise production. The Australian-born actress is the latest addition to the movie and will be a follow-up to 2024's Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, created by Legendary Pictures.

Deadline was the first to report on April 9th that Debnam-Carey is tied to the film. While her character is under wraps, I feel she'll nail it, as she had in her other roles, especially when they're emotionally and physically driven. How she'll fight among two big and powerful monsters will be an interesting vision, but I don't think it will be much different than warding off zombies or trying to save the world.

What the Monsterverse Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire follow-up could be about and what Alycia Debnam-Carey said about joining the franchise

Joining alongside Debnam-Carey are Jack O'Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, Dan Stevens, and her Apple Cider Vinegar from Netflix costar, Kaitlyn Dever. As a group in the upcoming Monsterverse film, they'll face off a "cataclysmic world-ending threat" with Godzilla and Kong, according to Deadline. While that's a vague description, it does open doors to unexplored opportunities, one that hasn't been done before in the post-apocalyptic and science-fiction genres.

Godzilla X Kong: The Next Empire was the Monsterverse franchise's most profitable, taking in $570 million globally by early June 2024

Debnam-Carey took to Instagram following her casting news and posted a photo screencap of Deadline's article, with her caption reading,

Becoming Commander Lexa in The 100 was perhaps Debnam-Carey's breakout TV role, as fans associate her best with it. Her presence on screen and canonical relationship with Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor), another groundbreaking LGBTQ female character, cultivated a mass following. Lexa has been decorated as one of the most influential lesbians in media history.

Aside from becoming an iconic member of the LGBTQ Community, Lexa reflected that women could champion strong leadership roles, no matter what society prefers. As women, we shouldn't be subtracted from achieving our visions, especially when it's for the greater humanity. Given her short screen time on The 100, Lexa only strengthened that value, which makes her character even more special.

It's no doubt that Debnam-Carey will conquer her role in the Monsterverse franchise, as she has in her previous o
