When it comes to Disney characters, we can debate for hours about who is the best and who is the worst. Depending on which movies and shows are your favorites, you might even have a hot take on which character deserves the title of the best. Plus, there are just so many to pick from.

Dating back to the 1920s, we’ve gotten to meet so many characters under the Disney umbrella, both animated and live-action. And while we can all agree Mickey Mouse and a handful of others might be the most iconic, choosing the best princess, villain, and other categories is a difficult task.

Here at Culturess, we decided to have some fun and ask the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT for some opinions. Of course, the AI tool doesn’t have opinions of its own, but when asking it a question from the voice of a Disney fan, it gave me some interesting answers!

Want to know which Disney villain ChatGPT thinks is the best? No, it’s not Ursula, Scar, or Cruella de Vil. It’s not even Hades or the Wicked Stepmother. According to AI, Maleficent from the classic movie Sleeping Beauty is the best Disney villain.

ChatGPT says Maleficent is the best Disney villain

Here’s what AI tells me:

"Oh, let me tell you, my fellow Disney enthusiasts, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the greatest Disney villain of all time is none other than Maleficent! She is the epitome of pure, unadulterated evil, wrapped in an aura of dark elegance. From her iconic horned headdress to her mesmerizing green flames, Maleficent exudes an aura of malevolence that is simply unparalleled. Her curse on Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty is the stuff of legend, and her presence on screen sends shivers down my spine every time. And let’s not forget her faithful raven companion, Diablo, adding an extra layer of sinister charm.Maleficent’s commanding presence, her mastery of dark magic, and that unforgettable voice make her the quintessential Disney villain. She’s the one we love to hate, and she has set the standard for all Disney villains to come. Long live Maleficent as the undisputed queen of Disney villains!"

Do you agree or disagree with this take? For all the reasons ChatGPT listed, I can totally agree with Maleficent being the scariest villain. The best, though? I’m not sure. But there’s no denying she wreaks a ton of havoc and puts Princess Aurora in an incredibly dangerous situation. The Disney villain first appeared in Sleeping Beauty (1959), introduced as an evil fairy who puts a curse on Aurora as a baby.

Years later, Disney reintroduced Maleficent to audiences with the live-action 2014 movie, in which Angelina Jolie portrayed the titular character. The movie spawned a sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, in 2019. The character has also been portrayed in other titles, such as the Disney Channel film series Descendants, as well as in the ABC series Once Upon a Time. Without a doubt, Disney fans love Maleficent and continue to want to watch her on their screens.

There have been so many intriguing and complex Disney villains throughout the years, and we have to admit Maleficent is one of the best.
