How many siblings does Barbie have?
Barbie is one of the most iconic dolls in toy history. Mattel introduced the blonde figure in 1959. Barbie quickly became a hit, and her popularity is still soaring 64 years later.
As Barbie’s legacy took off, Mattel decided to introduce other dolls to the line, most of which are Barbie’s family.
A look at Barbie’s siblings
Every Barbie fan knows about the doll’s inner circle. Of course, there’s her boyfriend Ken and her friend Midge. But her legacy has grown to include several siblings.
These days, fans know Skipper, Stacie, and Chelsea aka Kelly. Skipper is the oldest of the sisters and was introduced in 1964. Initially, Skipper was eight years old but was later aged 14. Like her famous sister, Skipper is blonde, but in 2009, her hair was changed to brown.
Stacie was the next doll to join the sisters and was introduced in 1992. The character is between 10 to 12 years old and loves sports.
Kelly was introduced in 1995 and is the youngest of the siblings. She has blonde hair and blue eyes like her older sister but has undergone transformations. Originally she was a toddler, but her age then changed to six years old. Then in 2011, her name was switched from Kelly to Chelsea.
While Skipper, Stacie, and Chelsea are Barbie’s well-known siblings, many may be shocked to know there are others.
Twins Tutti and Todd were introduced in 1965 and were younger than Skipper. The twins were different from their sisters because they had red hair instead of blonde. The dolls were discontinued in 1971, although Todd continued to make appearances before finally being shelved in 2008.
Krissy is Barbie’s infant sister, who was introduced in 1998. Many of Krissy’s accessories included a stroller, crib, and high chair for when her big sister was babysitting her. Krissy’s tenure in the family was brief when the doll was discontinued in 2001.
Barbie’s family has undergone many transformations over the years. Whether the siblings are still part of the lineup or discontinued, they’re part of the doll’s history.
