Actress Sarah Jessica Parker’s acting career spans over three decades. While she’s had many film roles, she most famous as Carrie Bradshaw on the hit HBO series Sex and the City.

For six seasons, Parker played the sex columnist who wrote about her and her friends sexcapades in New York City. Parker reprised her role for two movies and the HBO Max revival And Just Like That…

Parker’s role as Carrie requires the actress to film love scenes, however, the actress made sure not to bare all.

Sarah Jessica Parker said no to nudity in Sex and the City

Carrie and her friends love lives were a main focus of Sex and the City. The ladies often found themselves hitting the sheets with a handsome suitor in sultry sex scenes.

When it came to filming sex scenes, Parker’s co-stars had no trouble going nude, however, the actress was uncomfortable with the idea.

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Parker explained why she didn’t do nude scenes. While Parker was impressed reading the pilot script, she was worried about having to do nudity and voiced her concerns to the show’s creator Darren Star.

"“Star said, ‘Don’t do it then, I don’t care. Don’t do nudity. We’ll have  other actors, if they feel comfortable doing it they’ll do it, but you do not have to.”"

The producers were accommodating to Parker’s no nudity clause and in many love scenes, Carrie wears lingerie instead of stripping down. While Parker never gets naked onscreen, she has no problem with other actors who do it.

"“I think I was just shy. I just never felt comfortable exposing myself in that way. I never had any judgements about anybody else doing it, it wasn’t like a morality thing. If somebody else felt comfortable doing it, I was admiring of them, but I just never felt comfortable being nude.”"
