Hulu drops official trailer for the new Futurama revival
They’re back, baby! The hit animated series Futurama is back for another revival, this time on Hulu.
Futurama is an animated science-fiction series created by Matt Groening. It began airing reruns on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block, which lasted from 2003 to 2007.
The series follows one of the main characters, Fry, a pizza delivery guy who is accidentally frozen and awakes in the year 3000. Fry makes friends with the beer-drinking robot Bender and a tough-as-nails cyclops Leela. The trio gets into lots of misadventures in their jobs as Planet Express delivery employees for Professor Farnsworth. The comedy originally ran from 1999 to 2003 on FOX, then was picked up by Comedy Central in 2010. But after a three-year run, Comedy Central canceled the show in 2013.
Ten years after airing its final episode, the Planet Express crew is back for more crazy hijinks.
The Futurama trailer hypes up the show’s Hulu premiere.
Plans for a Futurama revival on Hulu were announced in February 2022. But there was almost a shakeup with the cast.
Billy West, Katey Sagal, Lauren Tom, Tress MacNeille, Phil LaMarr, David Herman, and Maurice LaMarche all signed on to reprise their role. However, John DiMaggio voices the wise-cracking Bender. DiMaggio was holding out for more money, saying he was doing this for his fellow voice artists, who deserved more.
DiMaggio later worked out a deal and returned to the role of Bender. With the gang back together, production began on the Futurama revival.
Fans don’t have to watch too much longer to see their favorite futuristic misfits. Futurama will premiere on July 24, 2023.
A new trailer gives a glimpse at some of the adventures in store for the Planet Express crew. The clip starts by poking fun at the show’s move to Hulu. The group arrives at their new home with Bender delivering his signature catchphrase, “We’re back, baby!”
The new season promises to deliver lots of humor and adventure that Futurama fans love.
