Taylor Swift featured on the Barbie Soundtrack? We can only wish!

The Barbie movie is taking the world by storm. From the trailer to the casting to the soundtracks, viewers are incredibly excited for it but could Taylor Swift be in the mix?

While Taylor Swift is a Barbie in her own right, some fans have been speculating about Taylor being part of the Barbie soundtrack—the reason why is entirely rumor-based which is how these things tend to be.

Regardless, a statement from Carson Daly got fans aflutter with the prospect of Taylor Swift being featured on the Barbie soundtrack. Of course, Daly was quick to clear up the rumors and share that he has no insider info on whether Taylor Swift will be featured on the Barbie soundtrack.

Even so, that doesn’t mean fans aren’t excited and thinking about the prospect of it all, myself included.

Taylor Swift would be perfect for the Barbie movie soundtrack.

To me, there is no one who embodies Barbie’s attitude more than Taylor Swift. She’s a hard-working businesswoman who isn’t afraid to change her looks, her attitude, or anything on a dime. Given the sheer theatrics of her Eras tour, Swift has become a Barbie in her own right which is why she seems like an obvious choice.

Even though the track list for the Barbie movie has been unveiled already, it would still be fun to see Taylor Swift featured. Aside from the fact that she looks like a Barbie, her poppy sounds especially those from Lover fit the aesthetic of the movie. While she’s in a different era now, that’s another pro as Barbie is constantly changing and evolving.

Not to give anymore steed to what Daly said, Taylor has mentioned “Kens” in her song “Hits Different,” so despite the song coming out before the movie, it’s a connection. However as Daly shared, he doesn’t know if Swift will end up on the track list and neither do we. Either way, it would be nice to see someone as big and as fun as Taylor Swift bring that same energy to the Barbie movie.

Then again, I think we have a better chance of seeing a Taylor Swift cameo than her being featured on the soundtrack. Regardless, there is no denying Taylor Swift and Barbie are the center of the zeitgeist right now so it’s easy to make the connection. No matter how you feel, there’s no denying Swift and Barbie will be on everyone’s lips this summer.

Barbie hits theaters with or without Taylor on July 21st, 2023.
