Succession season 4 trailer teases a final showdown for the Roy family

Succession season 3 ended its finale with bombshells and betrayals, and the Roy family will be back for a final showdown when the HBO series returns. The trailer for Succession season 4 teases tense times ahead for Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his children. It also reveals the much-anticipated release date for Succession season 4: March 26.

That means fans don’t have long to wait until they’re reimmersed in the politics of Waystar Royco. And despite Logan’s controversial deal with Lukas Mattson (Alexander Skarsgård), it seems the Roy siblings stand a chance of regaining the upper hand. However, that will depend on how many people they can win over to their cause.

Their success also rests on their ability to outwit their father — and recognize the snakes within their midst. After Succession season 3, Shiv (Sarah Snook) can’t even trust her own husband. But Tom (Matthew Macfayden) may not be the only one the Roys need to worry about. In fact, the new footage suggests they could turn on each other.

The Succession season 4 trailer questions if the Roys can succeed against their father

Although the Roy siblings reconciled during the Succession season 3 finale, their unity against their father may prove short-lived. The Succession season 4 trailer opens with them getting along, but it does tease a potential deal between Logan and Roman (Kiernan Culkin). If Roman agrees to his father’s terms, Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Shiv could get the short end of the stick.

Of course, it’s possible Roman is playing his father. A later shot sees him condemning Mattson, suggesting he’ll destroy Logan’s plans from the inside. Doing so would prove that the Roy siblings are “serious people,” even if their patriarch insists otherwise.

Whatever happens, it’ll take more than removing Mattson to defeat Logan. The Roys have their work cut out for them when Succession season 4 arrives. Fortunately, its release date is finally on the horizon.
